Retreat Homestead (circa 1912) is a beautifully and sympathetically restored country homestead. Recapturing its once majestic presence, yet incorporating ‘a few’ modern conveniences makes your stay that much more memorable.
The homestead is set on over 150 hectares of prime agricultural land and glorious natural bushland at the foot of the Wollemi National Park at Jerry’s Plains in the Upper Hunter Valley. ‘Retreat’ is exactly what the name implies, a perfect get away to relax or escape for a short while or extended period from the hustle and bustle of modern life.
‘Retreat’ is self contained with full kitchen, dining/family room complimented by a magnificent woodfire heater for the colder months, bathroom, bbq and outdoor eating area. The three beautifully appointed bedrooms sleep up to 6 people. You can enjoy the magnificent sunrise over a steaming cup of coffee or watch the day draw to an end with a glass of your favourite wine on the verandah. There are several signposted bush walks and an abundance of wildlife to enjoy during the day.
Retreat Homestead is located an easy 3 hour drive from Sydney, 1.5 hours from Newcastle, at the gateway to the Upper Hunter wineries and the famous thoroughbred studs. The world acclaimed Coolmore Stud is only minutes away by car.
If you are looking for somewhere to enjoy time with friends or family, somewhere for quiet contemplation or somewhere you can enjoy yourself standing still, then Retreat Homestead is the place for you.
