The Hollydene team spares no effort to ensure superbwine quality is delivered to you in every bottle, vintage after vintage.

Behind every great business there is a great team, Hollydene Estate’s executive director and owner Karen Williams
feels fortunate to have attracted a team as committed and as passionate as herself.

Karen is a wife, a mother and stepmother of six and grandmother of eight. She is also a business woman with an accounting background, previously running different businesses from hotels to trucks, quarries and concrete.
Karen returned to study in early 2003 and completed certificates in horticulture, viticulture and winemaking. She purchased her first vineyard ‘Roseglen’ in 2004, with business partners, next to Rosemount Estate, Denman.
A year later Karen purchased the then distressed old vineyards of Hollydene and Wybong. The vines were resurrected and their grapes supplied to McGuigans, Rosemount and Arrowfield, with small parcels of fruit retained for the original label ‘JUUL’. Karen bottled her first Chardonnay in 2005 at Arrowfield Winery.
The Hollydene and Wybong Estate vineyards are two of the oldest and most iconic vineyards in the Upper Hunter. Combined with the historic Arrowfield Estate, the three vineyards provide Hollydene Estate Wines with Shiraz, Chardonnay, Semillon, Tempranillio, Sangiovese, Gewürztraminer and Verdelho grapes.

Using grapes from all three vineyards and fruit bought in from the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria and Orange in NSW’s Central Tablelands, Karen Williams has assembled a portfolio of 19 table wines, sparklings and liqueur crafted together with her dynamic and new age Pokolbin-based winemaker Matt Burton.

In early 2013 Karen took her passion for wine, food and family one step further when she refurbished the old Arrowfield venue back to its former but more modern glory.

The aim was to create a family-friendly atmosphere with Hollydene Cellar Door and Vines Restaurant where parents could relax over a wine or meal or both and have their children safely play on the massive lawns, sit in the amphitheatre-style seating on the front lawn or a comfy chair under the shady trees through to business lunches and formal functions.
