Ben has worked at Hollydene Estate since 2013
and in 2014 began his traineeship through State Training Services, working through the Certificate III –Agriculture.
Ben works at all three Hollydene Estate farms helping out with all aspects of farming.
“I love farm work, I grew up on a dairy farm until the industry rationalisation and then we moved into town,”Ben said.
Ben admits he didn’t have much of an idea about wine until the recent Wine Appreciation Course at Hollydene run by Adriana Mansueto.
“Just finding out the different tastes in each bottle and which foods go with each wine was really interesting, and I have a whole new understanding and desire to learn more about growing the best quality grapes,” Ben said.
Ben says he is looking forward to building his skills through working at Hollydene and his traineeship. Other facets of Ben’s course include occupational health and safety, pastures, crops, chemicals, fencing, animal health, feeding, nutrition and weather patterns.
